The Awards Deadline for the 2008 Convention will be set at the Fall Division Executive Council Meeting.

How can your chapter enjoy winning the coveted Chapter of the Year Awards and others like it? How can you reward those who have served your chapter with enthusiasm, leadership, and mentorship? I hope you expect some tips to follow!!

NOW is the time to begin thinking about you next year’s Award nomination packages – Its true! You just reviewed the awards checklists to see what awards you qualified for. You saw what areas you weren’t strong in, and what you are doing great at. Don’t stop the process now!! Did you get a lot of great ideas at the convention? Start making purposeful plans to improve on areas where you did not put enough emphasis last year. This does not only fill a square in making your chapter awards packages competitive at the division and international level, but takes your chapter to a new level of effectiveness!

I’ve put together some of the points found in AFSA Manual 700-1, Vol. 4 and some tips to make your awards program help your chapter grow. Start writing your nomination packages and don’t start collecting all attachments indicated in the 700-1 for each award. Leaving out these items can affect your nomination’s potential to win awards at all levels.
