Hope
you all are doing well and had a great
Holiday
. With the New Year comes our
AFSA
Conventions. Our Division 3 Convention is right around the corner, 29-31 March
2007 at the Best Western, Asheville Biltmore. We will be electing a President
and two Trustees this year. So far, Trustee Dick Pfeiffer has announced his
intention to run, and I will announce today my intention to run also. I
encourage anyone else interested in running for these positions to please
accomplish a
AFSA
Form 100-10E, Resume of Candidate For Elective Office (which is available on
the
AFSA
web page), and send it to all
Chapter Presidents
and Executive Council Members prior to the Convention. Then bring 70 copies
with you and give to the Convention Manager first thing on arrival so they can
be placed in the delegate folders. I hope we have many people running for
these positions. All the information for the Convention can be found at www.division3afsa.org.
I hope you are all selling ads to help defray the cost of the
Convention. Hope to see many of you in
Asheville
.
Coming up prior to our Convention will be the
AFSA
International Executive Council
Meeting on 2 & 3 March. President McCauslin has asked all
Division Presidents
to attend rather than being represented by our DPR’s. Must be something
important. I will give a complete briefing at the Convention in
Asheville
.
It’s time to also start thinking about the upcoming International
Convention in
Orlando
Fla.
at the Caribe Royale 18-22 August 2007. This year we will be electing a
President, Vice President, Active Duty Affairs Trustee, Legislative and
Veterans Affairs, and a National Guard Trustee. There will also most likely be
another briefing by the Organization Committee on ideas how to reorganize our
Association. We must be there in force to voice our opinion on this important
issue.
We had another great year in Division 3. We had many recruits and
retentions this year thanks to some dedicated folks and Chapters.
However, we have a lot of work to do. We all need to work a little
harder to capture all our members that are leaving us. We Must do a better job on our retentions!!! Please
don’t get me wrong, we have done much better over the past few years, but we
can all see the obvious, our recruiting has been excellent, but we can not
continue to lose our members at the pace we have been. We can and must get
better. Thanks to
Rick Aldridge
and his Membership Committee for their efforts. They have the tools and can
help you get it done.
Take care and thank you for being a part of the best Association that
takes care of the best people. Now spread the word.
Remember,
we all must recruit and retain to sustain our Association.
