Division 3 President's Comments
By:  CMSgt (USAF Ret) Richard A. Mansfield

What a fast summer, seems like we were just getting ready for the AFSA International Professional Airmans Conference (PAC), looking forward to chapter participation in our base POW/MIA remembrancesand here we are in the middle of October with Veterans Day and the holidays just around the corner. It's abusy time of the year for all of us and, at times, easy for us to forget why we belong to this great association. Our Division Mid-Year meeting provides an opportunity for us to refocus our commitment, opportunity for fellowship with our many old friends as well as make new ones, and to share our many successes with eachother. In this edition you'll find some great information from Trustee Pfeiffer on Legislative issues were facing, some timely thoughts from Trustee King on preparing your Chapter awards packages and some tips youcan use to help improve your recruiting and retention efforts. Id also be remiss if I didn't highlight some of our chapters activities. Chapter 300 members have been in the limelight recently as Bolling AFB quarterly award winners, Chapter 306 shares their thoughts on another successful AFSA PAC, Chapter 358 shares their success with dedication of the Langley AFB POW/MIA Memorial and raises $8000 for the Air Force Enlisted Widows Village all in the same month, while Chapter 371continues their commitment to the local community with their support for the Goldsboro Soup Kitchen. I am very proud of all that our members accomplish in Division 3 and applaud your many successes you truly are walking the walk and ensuring that we take care of our own, whether on base or in the local community. As we move towards the end of 2009, I hope all of you will look back and reflect on the many successes you and your members have shared. I also hope that you will look back and see your Chapter prospering and growing, for growth is our strength. It is what truly makes the difference as our AFSA HQ Staff lobby for preservation of our existing benefits and lead the charge on Capitol Hill. As they continue working to ensure that our Airman of all ranks are afforded the benefits and privileges so vital to recruiting and retaining the foundation of the best Air Force in the world, our total membership is critically important. Please take the time to share why you're an AFSA member with a friend or co-worker; show them how much AFSA has and continues to make a difference in their benefits and compensation package. And invite them to become an AFSA member; our strength is in our numbers and we need every voice to be heard. Every additional member helps our voice to become a little bit louder and with your help we can ensure AFSA continues to be the voice that is listened to on Capitol Hill. Again, many thanks for all you continue to do.
