President's Corner
Raymond Wiltshire

Spring is finally here and I’m not sure about your area but here in Charleston , we really need some rain.

I want to start out thanking The Members of Chapter 363 from Asheville , NC for putting on an excellent 30th Annual Division 3 Convention 29-31 March 2007. We had a great time and some educational business meetings. We enjoyed the company of International Auxiliary President Carolyn Whitsell and Past International President Gino Piccoli who shared their AFSA knowledge with us.

I briefed our members on the International Executive Council Meeting I attended 2-3 March 2007. Many interesting things were discussed: The new NCO of the Year Award, Chapter Recruiting Goals and a lot of discussion on the new reports and the importance of proper reporting.

We held our elections and I must give huge thank you to two of our Trustees, Kim Browne and Greg O’Donoghue. Greg has been a past Division 3 President, Senior Advisor and Trustee, and that’s just since I’ve been on the council. Many thanks for all you have done Greg, and I’m sure it is not the end of your involvement in Division 3. Next I want to thank Kim who I appointed as our AAC 2 years ago and she attacked the job with her usual vigor and really set the stage for our new AAC. Thanks Kim for your efforts in establishing our AAC program.

I also want to congratulate our newly elected members. I was reelected President, Dick Pfieffer was reelected as Trustee and David Stinard was elected as Trustee.   I have also appointed Cory Lutzow as our Division AAC. We have a strong team again this year to keep Division on top of AFSA.

At our Post Convention Meeting we discussed the importance of renaming of our Convention as AFSA HQ has done. We also discussed adding some Airman’s developing training to assist with our Active Duty get TDY Funding to attend.

I hope many of you are planning to attend the International 2007 Professional Airman’s Conference and International Convention 18-22 August in Orlando Fla. This one is close enough to drive which really cuts down on costs. The info is on the AFSA web site (www.afsahq.org).

One more thing before I sign off, our recruiting and retention numbers are way down this year. Let’s all do our part and recruit and retain. Don’t forget to recruit Auxiliary members.

See you in Orlando
